Wine tasting Weekend

My best friend Shelly and I got away over night for a mini wine tasting trip to the Santa Ynez Valley. Of course it was hard to leave the kids, especially the baby, but we had such a great time. It was so nice to be able to enjoy some adult conversation with an amazing friend, some delicious wines, and a good night sleep :) I can't wait to do it again soon!

My little man is two months old already! He is starting to stay awake for longer periods during the day. He loves his big sisters! They make him smile and laugh all day long. It is so cute! He is doing pretty well sleeping at night. Looking back at the girls baby books I read that they slept through the night at around 8 weeks. I don't think little man will be doing that any time soon. He usually only wakes up once around 2am but some nights he is up twice. I think it might be a boy thing from what I have heard from other mama's of boys!

For the past 9 years Josh and I have had our own tradition when picking out a Christmas tree. We would go to Home Depot and pick a tree that was wrapped in twine, bring it home and then open in and see what we ended up with. Many times our trees looked pretty funny but we did end up with a few beautiful trees over the years.

Now that our kids are older they think it is fun to open the trees up, check them out and then pick out the perfect tree to bring home. They did an awesome job this year! Our tree is so pretty!!!

It is fun to remember our old traditions but so special to make new ones. Love this time of year, especially with kids!

Every year Josh's Aunt Debbie hosts a "Christmas before Christmas" dinner with each year being a different theme. This year was breakfast and PJ's. My girls love to wear their jams all day everyday so they were super excited that they could actually wear their jammies to dinner. Things have sure changed from the times the "kid-less cousins" would get together and celebrate but it is so fun to see all of the "little cousins" get together and play. The group keep growing and it is such a blessing to have cute new faces every year to love on.

Thank you Deb for hosting such a fun evening year after year! Next year I need to stay away from all the home made desserts!! Especially the cookie dough balls.... :) So good!!!

During the holidays we always visit Candy Cane Lane. This year was a little bit different. We always park and walk the streets and check out the cool lights but since we have Blake and have been so busy lately we decided to just drive through the streets instead. The girls put on their jammies and wrote their letters to Santa at home. We drove to the house with the mailbox and jumped out of the car to mail our letters. We also got out to take a picture with Santa. I love seeing the Christmas magic through the eyes of my little girls. Christmas is so much fun with kids!!!

Hailee's Daisy troop went Christmas caroling at a elderly home. It was so cute to see the older people light up at the sight of these cute little girls. Even though the girls forgot most of the words to the Christmas songs they had a great time and learned how important it is to give back and enjoy the true meaning of Christmas.

Where has the month gone! I can't believe how fast Blakers is growing. He is such a sweet boy and has been a pretty good baby so far. He is in his crib now and sleeping OK. He has been sleeping a 5 hour stretch but not the perfect 5 hours for me :) I am a night owl and go to bed late so I would prefer the 2nd half of the night being his longer stretch of sleep but oh well. I am really enjoying every minute of him, sleep or no sleep because I know it will be our last baby!

I am adjusting to life as a mother of 3 and couldn't imagine life any different. I feel like my little family is finally complete!

My belly has grown quite a bit in the last couple of weeks! I had a doctor appointment the other day and baby Ritter is measuring 2 weeks bigger! She said if I go full term he will probably be a big boy...8 or 8 1/2 pounds. Wowzers!!! I have to go in for fetal monitoring every 3 or 4 days for the rest of my pregnancy due to some asthma and thyroid issues that I have. So much for any free time I might of had now that the girls are back in school. On the plus side I get to hear my little guys, or should I say BIG guys, heartbeat every few days. I can't wait to meet him!

And so the madness begins...Hailee is playing soccer again. I wouldn't say it is her favorite thing to do but she asked to play and seems to be enjoying it. She also wanted to try gymnastics and LOVES it! It is really cute to see her so passionate about something.

Hanna will be starting ballet this week with her cousin Kaylee. She is so excited to wear a tutu and "twirl around" as she says. She is such a little girly girl and I love it!

We had a fun adventure at the Splash Park today. Hailee, Hanna, Kaylee, and Milo had such a great time playing together and loved running through all the water! I will definitely go back before summer is over. It was fun having an Auntie and Kaylee play date and Hanna really enjoyed having her boyfriend Milo along as well. After fun in the sun we all had ice cream! We LOVE summer!! What a great day!!!

Sequoia Camping 2011

What an amazing time we had in Sequoia this year!!! We took beautiful hikes, fished, played in the stream, ate delicious meals, and enjoyed each others company. It was so nice to have my whole family together for a camping trip. It has been years since my brother and sister-in-law have joined us on a trip so it was so much fun having them, my parents, my mother-in- law, and us all together in one beautiful place. The kids had a blast eating ice cream everyday, playing "angry birds" in the stream ( a game grandma spike made up- basically just knocking down rocks with other rocks- so much fun), playing card games, fishing, going on Bear and Deer hunts, and doing just about anything and everything that consists of getting dirty. We can't wait to do it all over again next year!!! :)

Hailee lost her very 1st tooth and was visited by the tooth fairy on July 6th! The tooth was really loose from biting open a bottle of lotion so she was afraid to eat for a few days before it actually came out. She was swimming in my parents pool and forgot it was loose and bit on a floaty and out came the tooth! She was so surprised, cried a bit, and then was all smiles. She looks so cute with a missing tooth :)

For the past 3 years my dad has been on fishing trips for Father's Day so we have not been able to celebrate with him on the actual day. I would still like to get a picture of me and my daddy because he is so wonderful! My dad has been an amazing role model both as a dad and a papa. We are lucky to have him and love him so much! I never took the belly pictures with my other pregnancies but since this is our last pregnancy I thought it would be fun to look back on them one day. Here is a picture of me rockin' a 20 week belly. At this rate I a going to have a pretty large belly by November 3rd. Baby Boy is enjoying his comfy home in there!

I can not believe how fast it popped out this time and how fast the first 20 weeks have gone. I really hope the second half goes as quick as the first :)

End of the school year 2011

Hailee has grown so much from the beginning of the year. She started the school year as a shy, timid little girl. She was afraid to go to school and cried a lot. Over the course of 9 months she matured and blossomed into this confident, intelligent girl who absolutely adored her teacher Mrs. Sadeghipour, and all her friends, and loved going to school. She is having a hard time today as the school year came to a close. She doesn't was to leave Kindergarten and even cried herself to sleep. It breaks my heart that she is heartbroken about the Kindergarten year coming to an end but I am confident she will LOVE being a 1st grader as well! I am sad to see her grow up so fast but am so proud of all her accomplishments this year. Perfect report card, independent reading, 100% on all her homework and classwork all year long, zero tardies...the list goes on and on:) We are so happy that her transfer was approved and she can continue her education at Newland. Excellent school and wonderful staff.

Way to go Hailee..you're awesome!!!

Last day as a Kindergartener!!

Miss Hanna has sure blossomed this year in preschool as well. She started her first year as a preschooler very shy and timid just like Hailee was with Kindergarten. She has grown so much and absolutely loved her teacher Miss Lauren and going to school to see all of "her friends." She can write her name and recognize and write all the letters of the alphabet. She can count to 60!! She may be right on track for a 3 year old but it still impresses me that someone so small can hold so much knowledge! She learned a lot about Jesus and I just loved hearing all the stories through the eyes of a little kid.

Hanna's teacher wrote a little something about each student that she shared with the class on the last day of school. She said the sweetest things about her so I am going to write it down on here so I have it to share with her in the future.

This is what she said...

" Hanna is one of the most mature 3 year old's I've ever met and I just adore everything about her. She follows directions so well and always does her very best no matter what the task is. Hanna came into the class so shy and quiet and throughout the year I have seen her come out of her shell and become this witty girl with so much personality. One of the gifts I have seen in Hanna this year is Peace. She has the ability to stay calm even when things seem a bit challenging. One of my favorite things about Hanna is that she doesn't hesitate to help her friends in need, whether it is cleaning, cutting, and putting shoes on. I'm really going to miss Hanna this summer and have been bless to have her in my class."

I am so happy that Hanna will be returning to Joyful Noises Preschool next year. We adore the staff and just love the school. Way to go Hanna!

Palm Springs Mini Vacation

We stayed at a beautiful hotel called the Renaissance for a short mini vacation in Palm Springs. The weather was perfect and the girls had a blast swimming and just being kids. We plan on going back very soon!

Hanna fell off the monkey bars at preschool. She landed weird and was crying for a long time so we decided to take her to the ER. They took an x-ray and nothing was broken, thank goodness, but they put a splint on it to be on the safe side. She was a champ at the ER and even took a little nap.

Mother's Day was so nice and relaxing this year. I slept in and Josh got me my favorite breakfast burrito. The girls and I napped together and then we we to my brother's for a nice afternoon BBQ. It was the perfect day with the perfect people! I love my sweet family so much!!!

For Hailee's birthday we took he to the American Girl Doll store in LA. It is a two story store with doll stuff everywhere. It is funny to see all the girls watching around the Grove with their dolls. Hailee had a blast going on her mini shopping spree. We must have gone up and down the escalator 15 times because she couldn't decide what she wanted to buy.

Hailee's Kindergarten class has a mystery reader who secretly comes to class every friday and reads the kids a book or two. I signed up to be the reader and it worked out that it was on her birthday as well. She had no idea I was coming to the class and when she saw me walk in the door the look on her face was priceless. I read a book by Dr. Seuss called "Happy Birthday" and another one called "On the Night You Were Born." Hailee was on cloud nine...very adorable!!!

New Years 2010

We spent New Year's weekend up in Big Bear this year with our dear friends The LaRuffa's. We had an absolute blast sledding, drinking, and hanging out with wonderful friends. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Santa Visits- 2010

Every year my friend Shelly has a Christmas party and Santa visits her house. Hailee says its Santa's helper so we actually just roll with that. She said "there is no way that Santa can come visit before Christmas because he is just to busy and can't show his sled before Christmas either." She also said that "Santa's helpers drive really nice cars and after they talk to all the kids, even the kids in China, they report back to the North Pole."

This year Hanna wasn't to sure about Santa as in the past few years, but Hailee for once was all smiles. It is a good thing they have been good girls this year because they both asked Santa for American Girl Dolls.

Hanna's 3rd Birthday Party

We had a small group of kids celebrate Hanna's birthday at Build A Bear this year. Even though her birthday isn't until next week we got the little munchkins together early for some mid-afternoon fun. Lucky girl always gets to celebrate twice since her birthday is so close to Thanksgiving. (Another birthday post to follow)

The kids had a blast choosing their animal, dressing it up, making a birth certificate, and even coloring the box to take it home in. I highly recommend a birthday party here. It was so adorable!!! Thank you everyone for celebrating with Hanna and skipping naps (can be tough, I know:)). I know it was a party she will remember for a long long time :)

We decided to head off to Disneyland today...probably one of the hotest days in a while, only 100 degrees! I was so shocked to see Christmas stuff!!! They sure dont waste anytime :) Despite the heat we had a really good time!

Josh's grandma turned 80 this month so a group of us surprised her in Vegas for her birthday. Thanks to Jan's awesome planning skills Nana was completely surprised! We had such a great time with family and it truly was such a special weekend.

One of the many things I love about Joyful Noises Preschool is that they do "home visits" at the beginning of the year. It gives the student a chance to show off their favorite things in a comfortable environment. Hanna's teacher is amazing. She is such a fun, sweet, and beautiful person. She is great with the little ones!

My BIG pre-schooler and Kindergartener! Not sure where the time has gone but I have to admit this was a VERY HARD day for me :)

Sequoia 2010

Before my grandpa passed away he told us that he wanted his ashes buried next to my grandmas up in the Sequoias after he died. My mom, Josh, the girls and I went on a short but wonderful trip to do just that. We also enjoyed hiking, playing in the stream, and searching for deer and Bear. My mom and I went on a short hike up this beautiful trail to bury his ashes next to where my grandmas were buried over 10 years ago. It was a sad but magical time and I am so glad I was there by my moms side through this experience.
